My how time flies when you embark on an incredible journey! It has already been one year since we launched MZ Skin, and I am truly humbled to see our growth, and grateful to all the amazing people who have helped us along the way.
Today is a day filled with nostalgia and happy memories for me and I thought it would be fitting for me to share a bit of this journey with all of you who have supported MZ Skin and continue to support us.
I have always been happy seeing the faces of my beautiful patients at the Cadogan Clinic, listening to their concerns, addressing their issues, trying new products and treatments and always trying to grow professionally. Of course we all love pampering ourselves, me included. I would love buying the Sheisedo’s and Natura Bisse’s of the world, which feel and look beautiful, and would then create my own pharmacy creams to add to these to help in the quest of even toned beautiful skin. I would complain whenever we travelled that I had so much stuff (and blame my toiletry for the excess luggage!)… and my husband then said why don’t you just create the creams you like. That was THE lightbulb moment and that is where it all began. That was in April 2014. It took almost two and half years from that point to bring MZ Skin to fruition. And what a journey it has been!
In those development years, I took inspiration from everything I could really but mostly from my inspiring patients, friends and family. The goal was simple. I wanted to create a high performance skincare that was medically backed and tested, effective and yet beautifully feminine. Why not fuse the clinical aspect with the sensory luxury component to create a synergistic experience? Almost all medically endorsed and created skincare is made by male doctors for women. I wanted to create one that had the woman using it in mind- effective, efficient and practical while having that dressing room glamour and experience. It sounded simple but the implementation took time- between devising and tweaking the formulations, creating the branding, doing the clinical trials and putting it all together- we were finally ready in September 2016.
And just like that it has been a year! We launched exclusively at Harrods, a true pinch me moment. That morning, I walked in before the store opened and was guided through the elaborate maze beneath Harrods only to resurface in the apothecary room with my skincare. With their wonderful beauty buyer by my side, we arranged the skincare line in our branded shelves and I, of course, snapped a photo for Instagram. In a few months time, we expanded online with Net-a-porter, Fortnum & Mason, Esserbella in Italy and Beauty 24 in Thailand. And this month I am thrilled to announce that we are going to the states with our partnership with Bergdorf Goodman.
I am hugely appreciative to all our clients and retail partners for supporting us in these early days. It is super exciting to see our MZ Skin family growing. We hope this will be another exciting year ahead with a few exciting product launches in the horizon and new retail collaborations. On our first birthday, the MZ Skin team and I would like to thank you all for being with us on this journey- we truly could not have done it without you!
