Retinol – A woman’s best friend
A derivative of Vitamin A, Retinol is a must have ingredient to help improve skin texture and tone, decrease sebum production, and increase collagen production and skin turnover. Retinol is a cult favourite because of all its exceptional skin properties and more recently because it is a powerful weapon to reduce fine lines, wrinkles and skin degradation. Retinol helps increase skin thickness and collagen production, firming and refining the complexion and restoring its vibrancy – the key to youthful looking skin. By increasing skin cell turnover, it helps make way for new cells to grow. It prevents the breakdown of collagen and thicken the deep layer of skin to get to the root of where wrinkles begin.
Begin in Your Mid ’20s or Early ’30s
You can introduce retinols into your skincare regimen as early as your twenties to help reduce visible signs of ageing like fine lines, pigmentation, uneven skin tone and blemishes.
Integrate It Slowly and Gently
If you have never used retinol before or have sensitive skin, it’s best to start of using a cream with encapsulated retinol, and we recommend MZ Skin Hydrate & Nourish. You will see exceptional results, especially when applied daily over the course of one month. Retinol can be very irritating if used too frequently or if the formulation is too strong for your skin. Always start off with a small amount of product, slowly increasing the usage to give the skin a chance to acclimate. Another tip whilst using retinol is to not forget about your neck, décolletage and hands, which are areas notorious for showing the signs of aging, yet often neglected. New studies have shown that retinols also act as a powerful antioxidant to fight against the harmful skin ageing effects from UV radiation. Moreover, this product is perfectly formulated with an SPF of 30 to help protect the skin from the harmful rays that induce skin damage. A common concern is that retinol should be used at bedtime, but if used with an SPF, the skin is protected and has even more armour against the powerful UV rays.
Once you have acclimated to your daily use of Hydrate and Nourish, you can also incorporate our Retinol Skin Booster, which has a 2% encapsulated retinol formulated in a hydrating light oil base to lock in moisture and minimize potential short term side effects like peeling or flaking.
Dr Maryam Zamani created the newly launched, must-have, Retinol Skin Booster as a 2% encapsulated Vitamin A treatment, which helps re-densify, smooth and repair the skin’s surface. The encapsulation prevents irritation to the skin and ensures that it is easily absorbed. It is extremely lightweight and utilises the skin-renewing power of retinol to re-build, smooth and repair the skin’s surface. A transformative formula, it has many benefits such as –
+ Helps increase the rate of skin turnover, as it amplifies collagen production and protects against free radicals for younger-looking, more radiant, youthful looking sin.
+ Targets the skin surface to help improve the appearance of texture, tone and help prevent the effects of photo-ageing.
Retinol skin booster is best used at night-time, as the first treatment placed after cleansing and before placing other topical products. The oil helps to lock in moisture and hydrate the skin.
